Our commercial contract experience includes office buildings, sports facilities and hotels. It utilizes a broad spectrum of products- from aluminum storefront and curtain-wall to translucent panel systems.
Our professional staff is regularly engaged in the private education sector, providing educational seminars, budget analysis, architectural design, spec-writing assistance and product sales- all culminating in a first quality installation.
We have a proven track record when it comes to competitive bidding in the public sector, with a special emphasis on the Maryland public school system. In 2007, we proudly completed our fiftieth Baltimore County school window replacement project.
Renovation
The majority of our work concentrates on renovation and adaptive re-use, in which systemic renovations are performed in an existing building and new window design is part of that construction process. Our favorite challenge involves cases in which special guidelines are encountered relating to historic preservation. There is nothing more rewarding that retrofitting an historic building with a specially designed and approved, ‘state of the art’ window product that precisely replicates the original windows.
A prime example of our capabilities with historic projects is the
Paca-Pratt Building in downtown Baltimore. Originally designed in the early 1900's as a manufacturing facility in the city's textile district, the project called for restoration under guidelines established by the National Commission for Historic Preservation. Since the original steel windows were a primary design element, we recreated them using new thermal aluminum extrusions specially designed to match the old steel mullions and exterior trim details.
Another special challenge involved the White-Gravenor Building on the campus of Georgetown University in Washington, DC..
